Understanding your license and what it covers
What you'll learn: what your MaxPanel license actually permits, and the rules for using it.
One license, one server
Each MaxPanel license is for one server. If you have two MaxPanel installations, you need two licenses.
When you activate a license, it remembers the server it was activated on (using a unique fingerprint). That's why you can't accidentally run the same license on two servers at once — it would lock automatically.
What your license includes
A standard Main node license includes:
- The panel software, fully featured
- Free updates for as long as your subscription is active
- Access to support (via email)
- A defined number of hosting accounts (the cap depends on the plan you picked)
A Mail node license includes:
- Mail node software (Postfix + Dovecot + Rspamd, managed for you)
- Free updates for as long as your subscription is active
- Pairing with one Main node
What it doesn't cover
- The server itself. You rent your VPS separately from your hosting provider.
- Your domain name. You buy that from a registrar.
- Backup storage. You provide the S3 bucket or SFTP server you back up to.
Account caps
Your plan limits how many hosting accounts you can create. If you reach the limit, you'll see a friendly notice in the panel and can either:
- Upgrade to a bigger plan (one click in the customer portal — sites stay online)
- Delete unused accounts to make room
The cap is purely on accounts — there's no separate cap on domains, mailboxes, or databases beyond what each Package allows.

When does it expire?
Your license stays valid as long as your subscription is active. If a payment fails or you cancel, you'll get email warnings before the panel locks. See What happens if my license expires?.
