Forgot my password

What you'll learn: how to get back into your account when you've forgotten your password.

Don't worry — this happens to everyone. Here's how to recover.

Reset it from the login screen

  1. Go to your panel's login page.
  2. Click Forgot password?.
  3. Enter the email address on your account.
  4. Check your email for a reset link (it usually arrives within a minute).
  5. Click the link, set a new password, and log in.

Email didn't arrive?

Check these in order:

  1. Spam folder. Reset emails sometimes land there.
  2. Right address? It needs to be the email currently on your account, not necessarily your everyday one.
  3. A few minutes patience. Sometimes it takes 2–3 minutes.

If you've waited 10 minutes and there's nothing, your hosting provider can reset the password for you directly.

You don't remember the email on the account either

Contact your hosting provider. They can verify your identity (often by emailing the address on file) and help recover access.

You have 2FA and lost your phone

If you can log in with your password but the 6-digit code is the problem:

  • Recovery codes — you should have saved a list of these when you set up 2FA. Try one.
  • No recovery codes — your hosting provider can disable 2FA on your account so you can log in with just your password. Then re-enable 2FA on a new device right away.

After you're back in

A few things worth doing:

  • Save your new password in a password manager. Bitwarden, 1Password, Apple Passwords — any of them.
  • Set up 2FA if you haven't already. See Changing your password and account email.
  • Print fresh recovery codes for 2FA and stash them somewhere safe (not on the same device as your authenticator).

Tips

  • Use unique passwords. A password manager makes this easy.
  • Don't share your password. If a contractor needs access, give them their own login or use a sharing feature inside the app (e.g. WordPress users).

If something goes wrong

  • The reset link says "expired" — links expire after about an hour. Request a fresh one.
  • The reset link says "invalid" — you may have already clicked it; request a new one.
  • You can't even reach the login page — your panel might be down. Check with your hosting provider.
